What is SocialMob?

SocialMob is a community of users who remain connected through the sending of messages about what they are doing or feeling at certain times in their lives. All are responding to a main question: “What are you going to write today?”

With SocialMob, you can stay in touch with your friends, make new friends and expand your writing network. Bloggers can use it to micro-blog and developers can use its API to create applications on SocialMob.


Why are my messages not showing up on the home page?

Login to your account. Go to SETTINGS > Profile. Check the box that says "Let my messages be visible to all users, not just to my friends."


Is SocialMob free?

Yes, SocialMob is completely free.


Can I synchronize my SocialMob posts with my Twitter Account?

Yes, go to SETTINGS, click on My Twitter Account, enter your Twitter username and password, click the check box that says ‘Send messages to my Twitter account’ and click Save Changes.


Can I use SocialMob with my IM (Instant Messenger)?

Yes, once you have logged in to SocialMob, go to SETTINGS > My Instant Messenger and enter your IM ID.  Add it to your Friends List on your IM.  We support all major IMs (MSN, Gtalk, Jabber, AIM, ICQ and Yahoo).


Does SocialMob support html in messages?

No, for security reasons, SocialMob does not allow html in your messages.


Can I stop following a User?

Login and click ‘followers’ on the right panel.  Select the user and click ‘Stop following.’ 


How do I know that someone is me following?

Go to your personal page and click on the link ‘followers’. You will see all the users who are following you. You have the option to also start following them.


Can I block any user?

Yes, on the profile page of the user, in the box on the right side, you will find a Block link.


Can I send a user a message direct message?

Yes, on the user’s profile page, click on the ‘send a message’ link.


How do I find my direct messages?

Go to your profile page. Click ‘Direct Messages’ on the right side of your profile.


Are my answers public?

You can respond or comment publicly to any message on SocialMob. To do this, click the speech bubble icon at the end of any message, type in your comment.


Who can read my new messages posted? Can only my friends read them?

You can decide. In SETTINGS, you can make your messages public or accessible only to those people you are following. If you do not want your new messages read by strangers, go to SETTINGS and select that only persons authorized by you have access to them.


Can I edit my messages after its publication?

No. You can delete your messages by clicking on the red ‘x’ icon, but you can not edit them.


Can I save messages as favorites?

Yes, you can save any public post in ‘Favorites’ by clicking on the heart icon. 


What is the maximum size of my messages?

The maximum limit is 333 characters.


Is there is a limit of new messages that can I send?

No, send as many messages as you want.


I am receiving many messages in my IM and email. What do I do?

You can stop receiving messages from some people that you follow without stopping all of your messages. Go to the profile page of the person whom you do not want to receive more notices from and select that option.


How do I "Nudge" a user?

If a person has not published a message on the site for some time and you want to send them a new message, you can send a "Nudge" by clicking on the Nudge link on the user's profile. A notification is sent to them via email asking them to create a new message.


Can I customize my pages of SocialMob?

Yes, go to SETTINGS and then My Layout. There you can change your wallpaper, colors, boxes, borders, links and text.


Can I put a link to SocialMob in my blog / site?

Yes, you can put the embeddable SocialMob widgets anywhere that accepts Flash, JavaScript or HTML, and you an even customize it. Go to SETTINGS and then My Layout > My Badges.


Is there an API for SocialMob?

Yes, you can find a link at the bottom of the site.


How do I delete my account and leave SocialMob?

Go to SETTINGS and then REMOVE MY ACCOUNT. Keep in mind we do not guarantee that you can return to SocialMob with the same username.
